I moved to the east coast from southern California as a teenager and spent many years feeling out of place and disoriented. I grew up under wide open spaces and the desert air and I’m still not sure I’ve ever quite recovered from the shock of relocation.
This ongoing series of photographs is a survey of the landscape that I discovered and have continued to explore since making my trip out east. To be honest, I still feel like a bit of an outsider here, but I think that making these photographs is the best chance I have of ever feeling at home.
