Dalton, it looks like you and the Hassie are in for a long lasting relationship.
I like the composition with the tree centrally placed and the mound and pier balancing out the rest.
The light looks interesting, what time of day was this taken, I’m guessing late afternoon?

Yes, I think the Hasselblad and I are going to get along very well. I finally made the decision to buy this camera while thinking about an upcoming trip to Sicily. I think I’m going to have a lot fun with this camera on that trip.
This photo was taken in the late afternoon, probably around 4:00, with the sun coming in hard from the right. I metered for the shadows under the pier, used an orange filter to hold back the sky, and pulled the film out of the developer about a minute early to hold back the highlights a bit. I’m pretty happy with it overall, although I’m curious to see what it would look like in different light. Early dawn, with the sun coming in from the behind to the left, for instance, or maybe a long exposure under full moonlight.
Unfortunately the moonlight shot isn’t going to happen because this place is in a questionable neighborhood and I would never be caught out there alone after dark.

How do you get there?
Thanks! It is a weird and interesting place. I took the F train to Stillwell Avenue, and walked about 15 minutes to the park, and then found a little trail that goes down to the water. I put it on the map for you if you want to see.

what lens did you use?
Thanks, bigbuckaroo. It’s the standard 80mm Planar 2.8 T* that came with the camera. So far, it looks great. 90% of my photos these days are with a "normal" lens, I just don’t often use zooms or carry around extra lenses.
