We’re experiencing technical difficulties

The light leak coming in from the loose seal in my A12 magazine was easy enough to diagnose, and I seem to have licked my uneven development issues—my last two rolls, at least, have developed without incident, with a tip o’ the hat to Robert for the advice. But then this popped up on my most recent contact sheet.

H.M.S. Keep Off

Do you see the light streak in the upper right corner of the frame? That shows up in about ½ of the photos on the last roll I developed. I’ve seen it a few times before, but it’s usually on throw-away frames and it’s been easy to ignore in light of the other problems I’ve been having. But looking at this contact sheet, I now realize that it only shows in photos when I’ve used a filter. An $85, B+W multi-coated medium yellow filter, to be exact. And yes, I’ve got a lens hood, too. What gives? It looks like some kind of internal reflection, perhaps bouncing off the inside of the filter?

I shot a press conference for work today with my Nikon D70 digital SLR camera. Halfway through, my shutter started sticking on every third shot. I’m starting to wonder if I’m cursed. I’m thinking of switching to a pinhole camera, or better yet, a Holga. At least then, when nothing goes right and my pictures are all screwed up, it’s because they’re supposed to be that way.

looks more to me like a loose A12 magazine or leaky darkslide.

seems like a full CLA of that hassy is in order.

over time the back gets loose with respect to the body. I have seen similar leaks on polaroids. Or it might be a leak in the darkslide slot.

    welcome to Hasselblad!

I just replaced the darkslide trap, which seems to have fixed that leak. A loose magazine is certainly within the realm of possibility as the whole camera seems a bit creaky. I’m going to wrap everything with gaffers tape when I go out this weekend and see if that fixes the problem. Weird coincidence with the filters, though. I remain suspicious!
