Sicilian city scenes

Sicilian cities decay in the most graceful and beautiful way imaginable. I had such an incredible time roaming the back streets of Siracusa and Palermo, especially late in the day when the shadows became deep and the textures of the buildings stood out in high relief. This dog was mellow and very friendly. I have no idea why he was wearing the muzzle, maybe he just thought it made him look tough.

Try clicking on these images, I think it is worth seeing them larger.

I especially like the first image though in all honesty, I missed the dog until I read your post.

    Thanks Carolyn!

Michael: I agree that the dog disappears somewhat because of his size relative to the overwhelming textures of the background. I am thinking that he might stand out more in a larger print. We’ll see what happens as I work on the final edit of this image for my portfolio.

vnice images… seems you have really started to come to grips with the tech side of BW… one book I would very highly recommend is ‘The new zone system manual’ by Minor White, Richard Zakia and Peter Lorenze … very readable and very informative! Library of congress catalogue card #75-428-77, ISBN 0-87100-100-4.
    all the best
